What is the Pole Dance Diaries?

The Pole Dance Diaries is an interview series started in early 2019 with 7 different pole dancers, who have made pole a part of their daily life, and who share pole as an art form and means of expression. The Pole Dance Diaries showcases the many ways pole is practiced and used in their daily lives. It educates on the origins of pole dancing and sensual expression, beginning with the original pole dancers - Strippers. The dancers featured vary in age, race, sexual orientation, and style. In this series you’ll learn about each of their pole journeys - how they got to where they are, why they practice, the struggles they have faced, and much more. You can find all the interview snippets on Instagram (@poledancediaries) and YouTube. **In 2020 Pole Dance Diaries began interviewing more pole dancers in a less formal context, on Instagram Live, to open up the conversation internationally.

The Pole Dance Diaries sets out to unite the different styles of pole and their worldly perceptions and associations. It informs those in and outside of the pole community on the origins of pole, where it stands today, and where it is heading. The questions vary and cover a wide scope of topics including stripping as the origin of modern pole dancing, social media and its role in the evolution of pole, and the seen benefits from those who start pole.

This is a passion project that emerged from my desire to give ALL kinds of pole dancers a voice, do justice to the art of pole , and ultimately see the industry flourish. Like many, I fell in love with pole for the numerous ways it’s changed my life. So, the idea of creating something meaningful to myself and others, which could make an impact beyond my sphere led to my creating the “Pole Dance Diaries”.
